Our world is changing. Humanity’s collective reliance on fossil fuels to power our societies is causing immense damage to our planet and climate – as well as to our peace and security. In these times, we must look to the bicycle as a solution that can form the basis of a safer, healthier and more sustainable future.
Today, the opportunities for cycling have never been greater: more and more people are taking up everyday cycling; e-bikes and cargo bikes are extending the reach and usability of traditional bicycles; and decisionmakers are following suit, prioritising active mobility and providing the investments, conditions and space needed to enable more cycling.
On World Bicycle Day 2022, the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) is proud to convene a group of prominent leaders from around the world – who are at the political and intellectual forefront of the transition of our mobility systems – to discuss one important question: How will the bicycle shape our future?
