The world of cycling, as a daily means of transport, is rapidly growing and evolving bringing with it both challenges and opportunities. This is partly the result of the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) and its members’ efforts.  ECF is the frontrunner in cycling advocacy at the EU-level and beyond, supporting its national member organisations to advocate on national, regional and local levels.

ECF and its stakeholders are currently working on a new Vision 2030 document, which will be implemented within and outside the organisation. The ECF President will play an important role in supervising this process and stimulating all members in this new challenge.  The Vision 2030 will open new and interesting opportunities that will shape ECF and its members’ agenda over the coming decade.

The current ECF’s President is stepping down after 12 years of committed and successful service to ECF.  We are therefore searching for a new president who, together with the Board members, will lead us in this new era.

Tasks

The President will supervise the work of the Secretary General and ECF’s business as a whole, representing ECF externally when necessary. Preferably, the President will also become a member of one of ECF’s Advisory Boards.

Requirements

The new ECF President will have a vision on ECF and how cycling can be further developed. It will also be essential to have experience in one of ECF’s areas of expertise. The ECF President will need to invest  20 – 40 days a year.

Procedure

The final candidacy decision will be made by the Annual General Meeting in May 2018. The candidates will need to be introduced by one of our member organisations.

The proposal will be prepared by the Nomination Committee (Mikaël Van Eeckhoudt (CEO Fietsersbond Belgium), Jette Gotsche (President Danish Cyclists’ Federation) and William Nederpelt (Vice-President ECF).
