Save the date! This November the Covenant of Mayors initiative is hosting a webinar where sustainable freight transport experts will discuss how to make city logistics greener.

ECF will participate with expert Randy Rzewnicki who will share his experience from the successful EU project CycleLogistics and the ongoing project PRO-E-BIKE. As ECF project manager in this area since 2011, Rzewnicki has a wealth of knowledge on integrating bikes including E-Bikes and cargo bikes into the fabric of urban delivery logistics. “In 2011 CycleLogistics was a niche concept. Three years later we held an event in the EU parliament where DHL delivery company reported that replacing 33 motor vehicles with 33 cargo bikes saved them over 400,000€ per year and hundreds of tonnes of CO2.”

“Over 50% of motor vehicle trips for moving goods in cities could be shifted to cycles – and this includes 25% of all commercial deliveries”, says Rzewnicki.

During the webinar, which will take place on 27th November from 10:30 - 12:00, participants will also hear about two successful case studies from Berlin and Bologna – both signatories of the Covenant of Mayors.

This is an excellent opportunity for local and regional city planners and policy-makers as well as businesses and transport operators to learn about the current debates in the field, and to contribute your opinion. Register now!

About the Covenant of Mayors network: With over 6,000 signatories committed to local sustainable energy, the Covenant of Mayors is the most comprehensive network of local and regional policy-makers in Europe who voluntarily commit to support energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. With the European Commission’s target for “essentially CO2-free city logistics in major urban centres by 2030”, these signatories need to action at the local level now.
