On August 18th the NowWeBike tour will set out on a one month travel through Europe. Their mission is to inspire hope around our continent using their bikes, under the banners #Journey of Hope and #BeActive

Why do we need hope?
We are today facing a conflicted Europe. We move less, and consequently we become bigger and bigger. We destroy the environment even though we do have good environmental options available. We divide ourselves into groups, and claim to be better than others. We travel more, but seem to have forgotten that the journey is usually the best part.

There are of course plenty of different ways to tackle these problems and one of those is to cycle. Riding a bike makes you active and happy while protecting the environment. The best part? Cycling is for everyone. No matter the age, nationality or background, a bike ride will put a smile on your face and make you healthier at the same time. To spread this message we gathered a team that will paddle all the way through Denmark, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and eventually Austria.

How do we make this happen?
We all know that to gain large impact we need more people to get involved. This is why we have decided to invite everybody especially from the cycling community to join our journey. It can be the entire way or in a hop-on-hop-off fashion. You decide how far, and we will let you know when and where we will be passing by.

In order to make sure that we create the best event possible, there are somethings that we would love your help with. The first one is of course to join our tour. Another is to invite others to do the same though your newsletter, your media contacts or those of your partners. Even if you unable join, spread the word anyway!

If you feel like you want to do a bit more you can:

  • Give advice to where to find good accommodation, as well as places to stop to pick up and drop off cyclists.
  • Tell us the sight we have to see when passing by your city.
  • Organize a joint event with us, or let us know about other events taking place that we could collaborate with. We are especially looking for events in connection to Berlin, Poznan, Ostrava, Krakow and Wien.

The ride is a great opportunity to gain PR for your organization. The campaign itself will be widely covered by several media teams throughout Europe, and will reach individuals on a local to international level. It is also provides you with an ideal chance to network and build partnerships with other organizations working in the field of physical activity.

The tour is organized by our long standing partner ISCA (International Sport and Culture Association) and supported by ECF. It is part of the NowWeMove campaign, as well as the European commission’s European Week of Sports, that both advocates for more physical activity around Europe.
