Velo-city day 3: Cycling and Walking in Metropolitan Areas

Danielle Hoppe, Active Transportation Manager at the Institute for Transportation & Development Policy (ITDP) skilfully moderated a lively Pecha Kucha session packed full of case studies on cycling and walking in metropolitan areas around the world.

Eight speakers had 6-minutes each to give fast-paced presentations with several images. The presentations were grouped into three three groups:

1.Research

2.Civil society/advocacy

3.Government-related initiatives

The audience heard about initiatives in places as far away as Taiwan, Sao Paulo, Amsterdam and Mexico and whilst there were some common issues accounted the solutions were not always the same, reflecting the local circumstances in the different cities.
