We are excited to announce the launch of our preliminary programme for the Velo-city 2019 conference in Dublin, Ireland!

High numbers of excellent quality abstracts and ideas came together into more than 90 sessions, to tell the story of this year’s theme ‘Cycling for the Ages’. The theme is explored starting from visions for the cycling city of the future in the opening plenary and then working backwards, eventually arriving at the closing session on how we can achieve these visions from the cycling city of today.

Snapshot of the VC19 Preliminary Programme

Following the overall theme the programme is shaped under three sub-themes;

(1) Technology, Intelligent Transport Systems and Data Analytics;

(2) Health and Social;

(3) Environment & Infrastructure

Through a series of lectures, workshops, masterclasses, pecha kuchas, posters, discussions and more; the themes will be developed looking at how they intersect and overlap. The focus is on how we safeguard and grow cycling in the coming ages, for all ages; from young to old, male and female and all demographics so that cycling is truly accessible to everyone.

VC19 Themes

The Velo-city 2019 Dublin Programme will seek to raise and answer questions like how do technological advances like autonomous vehicles impact the city of the future? How can the wealth of cycling data available be used for advocacy or policy making? How do we tap into the potential of cycling as a tool for climate change mitigation, health promotion and disease prevention, social inclusion and access? Through grappling with such issues we hope to emerge with a conference vision of ‘The cycling city of 2030’.

All this will take place in Dublin, Ireland from the 25th to 28th June, 2019 at the Dublin Convention Centre located on the banks of the River Liffey and positioned at the convergence of several key coastal, river and canal cycle routes.

Don’t forget that Registrations are open!

We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to Velo-city 2019!
