What could be better than bonding over a bike ride with your fellow Velo-citizens after thought-provoking discussions at the conference centre? The City of Ljubljana has prepared five different technical visits, which are all about building public spaces that will get people out of their car. On each visit, you will have the chance to explore Ljubljana by bike and discover more about its journey of becoming a city for people.

The Green City Tour

Length: 5,44 km
Duration: 2 hours

Ljubljana is one of the best examples of a city that has taken the bold step of closing its city centre to cars. See for yourself how the formerly congested centre has turned into a shared place for cyclists, pedestrians and public transport users.

“Work in Progress” Tour

Lenght: 8,09 km
Duration: 2 hours

The story of Ljubljana’s transformation is not over yet. Maintaining and renovating 1,626 roads, the city is continuously improving and expanding its cycling infrastructure all while keeping up with the latest cycle-friendly innovations.

Cycling as Part of Intermodality Tour

Lenght: 23,22 km (bus transfer is included in the lenght)
Duration: 2 hours

Intermodality is one of the key elements of efficient urban transport and helps to reduce private car use in city centres. Ljubljana’s innovative P+R system (park and ride) combines private and public transportation. Users reach the outskirts by car and continue their journey by bus or bike. 

Leisure Cycling Tour

Lenght: 5,59 km
Duration: 2 hours

On this tour you will learn how Ljubljana transformed brownfield sites into pump tracks and green surfaces. For example, during the European Mobility week 2017, the intersection of the streets Linhartova and Topniška cesta was converted into a bicycle park! It is now a fun space for bikes, kick scooters, inline skaters, and much more.

Thematic Cycling Routes Tour

Lenght: 11,68 km
Duration: 3 hours

Leading along quiet streets, Ljubljana’s thematic cycling routes link different parts of the city. There are four routes in total: The Waterside path (12km), Plečnik's path (14km), Forest path (7km), and the Path of Remembrance and Comradeship (32km).  At Velo-city, you will have the chance to explore the 11 km long waterside cycle path.
