Within the next 15 years, rapid advances in information technologies are going to challenge traditional sectors in unimaginable ways, including the cycling industry. Will the sharing economy make bicycles available and free to everyone? Will connected bicycles be an essential part of an integrated transport model based on ITS? What sounds like science-fiction today might be disrupting reality tomorrow. Learn more about it at our Cycling Industry Leaders’ Summit, in Utrecht, March 1st!

How does the cycling industry need to prepare for the major disruptions that come from new technologies? Which types of services will define the rules to redesign the industry and adapt to these new realities? At the Cycling Industry Leaders’ Summit we are proud to present you a panel of Disruptors from within and outside the cycling sector, who will give you insights into their ambitious vision on the future of mobility!

Who are these Disruptors?

  • Marius Macku, EU Lead on Urban Mobility Policy at Uber
  • Martijn Maters, Channel Manager BeNeLux and Nordics at Vodafone Automotive
  • Eric Craig, CEO at Free2cycle
  • Dennis Steinsiek, Senior Mobility Consultant at Nextbike

What’s on the table for discussion?

Mobility, and thus the cycling sector, is moving into a new age of tech-driven transformations. But who are the Disruptors, how do they work and what impact will they have on the bike industry? With the Cycling Industry Leaders’ Summit, we are creating a platform for you to get in touch with visionaries who will tell you first-hand what it is like to be part of a disruptive company, to work on innovation!

Will urban cyclists still have incentives to buy their own bicycle in the future? With shared mobility breaking frontiers at a dizzying pace, this question is not too far-fetched. Innovators from the social enterprise Free2cycle have developed a concept that rewards cyclists for riding their bike: a free bicycle! Where do bicycle manufacturers find their customers when everyone is part of the sharing economy?

Will bicycles have to be redesigned to include sensors to connect them with intelligent cars and street lights? With big data and smart cities on the rise, connected cycling will be the cycling industry’s next big market. As showcased in ECF’s frontrunner Hacking Copenhagen Project, the bicycle-as-a-sensor (as an integral part of the internet of things) will put it in interaction with an urban digitalised eco-system. Which technologies do cycling leaders need to know about, to be at the top of this movement?

And there is more…
