This year’s Velo-city Exhibition shines a spotlight on innovation, as cities and regions look to equip their streets for more cycling.

The annual world cycling summit is just three weeks away, and, with the full interactive programme now available, the attention of the international cycling community now turns to the city of Leipzig for another spectacular edition of the Velo-city conference series.

Velo-city, the annual world cycling summit, is set to take place in Leipzig, Germany, from 9 to 12 May 2023. Running since 1980, the conference aims to bring together stakeholders from the public and private sectors, accelerate the development of sustainable bike-friendly cities and foster innovation in the everyday cycling industry.

As one of the main attractions of Velo-city 2023, the exhibition will feature over 90 exhibitors from across Europe and the world. Attending delegates, known as Velo-citizens, will be able to explore the latest cycling innovations and network with like-minded advocates and professionals in between attending diverse high-level sessions covering all things everyday cycling.

Introducing the Dynamo Hub, the newest addition to the VC Exhibition

This year, Velo-city introduces a new concept to the exhibition: the Dynamo Hub. This space will host start-ups participating in the Smart Pedal Pitch innovation contest, now in its fourth edition, and will support the Velo-city conference’s efforts to promote new ideas and solutions for cycling. The Dynamo Hub will also host several academic poster sessions, in partnership with European Cyclists’ Federation’s (ECF) Scientists for Cycling Network, for those conducting research in the fields of active travel, behaviour change, and urban planning.

In addition to the Dynamo Hub, the exhibition will see the return of the Freewheel Stage, a venue that will continue to serve to highlight initiatives and experiences that contribute to more cycling, as well as host some of our key partners that are supporting this year’s edition.

One of these key partners is Spinlab, the HHL Accelerator, who are leading the coordination of the 2023 Smart Pedal Pitch and providing expert pitch training. The contest this year saw a record number of 27 companies and start-ups applying to compete on stage at the annual world cycling summit and pitch their ideas to the assembled audience of Velo-citizens. The semi-final is scheduled to take place during session 3.6 at 14:30 on Tuesday, with three finalists progressing to the Velo-city mainstage for a quickfire showdown during the final Plenary on Friday.

A unique networking setting

All coffee breaks, lunch breaks and the first social event of the conference, the Welcome Reception, will take place in the exhibition area, making it the perfect location to network and foster new partnerships and connections within the ever-expanding community of Velo-citizens.

The Velo-city 2023 Exhibition will be a meeting point for industry and cities looking to improve cycling infrastructure and safety. Exhibitors can showcase their solutions for parking, smart cycling, data services and Intelligent Transport Systems, bike-sharing, as well as cycling destinations and software services. Public authorities and EU projects will also be present, along with mobility organisations and consultants.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to explore the latest in cycling innovation and to network with industry professionals at the Velo-city 2023 exhibition. Tickets are still available here.
