On 23 and 24 November, ECF welcomed guests from member organizations and ECF networks Cities and Regions for Cyclists, Cycling Industry Club and Scientists for Cycling at our ECF Vision 2030 Workshop in Brussels. The aim was to brainstorm on ECF’s future development, priority topics and goals to reach, as well as to think and discuss on what the major trends for 2030 are and how the world of cycling will look like.

Following the ECF AGM in June in the Netherlands, this workshop was an important step in the process of developing the ECF Vision 2030 document, with the ECF aiming to have the final document adopted at the ECF AGM in Milan in May 2018.

The first day of the workshop revolved around the bigger picture, thinking about what the world will look like in 2030, which new trends will come to the surface, what challenges the cycling community is going to face and what new opportunities will emerge. During the second part of the day the participants were invited to think and share their opinions on what the most important issues will be for the work of ECF in 2030.

The second day of the workshop was specifically designed around ECF’s role in achieving desired goals. Participants were asked to dive deep into the ECF’s structure and think of concrete ways in which the organization could face future challenges, what new structures, if any, should be developed, what are the areas to improve in the future.

We would like to thank the participants for their valuable input during the fruitful two workshop days and we will continue to use this input for the ECF Vision 2030 document.
