Being part of the European internal market, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway have established the EEA and Norway Grants as a way to help alleviate economic and social disparities in Central and Southern Europe and the Baltics. They are now looking for actors eager to develop projects that promote social inclusion and unify sustainable solutions with competitive industries.

Green industry innovation

Supporting the principle of sustainable development and the creation of competitive economies, a priority area for the Grants is green industry innovation. Proposals submitted on this topic should aim at stimulating green innovation and entrepreneurship, increasing the competitiveness of green enterprises, and greening existing industries. Expected results of the projects include reduced production of waste and air pollution, increased use of environmentally-friendly technologies, and an upsurge in the creation of green jobs.

Who can benefit?

  • Programmes are supported in Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia
  • Funding is primarily given to private entities

Active citizenship

The Grants also seek to strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations in order to contribute to policy and systemic change. The resources to do so are provided through the Active Citizens Fund, which supports projects aspiring to enhance the social inclusion of vulnerable groups, promote active citizenship, and contribute to environmental protection.

Who can benefit?

  • Programmes under the Active Citizens Fund are supported in all 15 beneficiary countries
  • The lead applicant for a project must be an NGO registered in the country where the call is launched
  • Eligible project partners include, but is not limited to, public and private organisations, international organisations, and informal and ad-hoc groups
