European Mobility Week Contest winner "Gijón Bus - Ride" attends Velo-city 2017 for free

Congratulations to "Gijón Bus & Ride", the winner of the Velo-city 2017 conference ticket in our EUROPEANMOBILTIYWEEK contest. The entry received 1641 votes, the most of any entrant, and has been crowned the winner!

After one and a half month the ECF EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK contest comes to an end. Of 21 entries with an overall of 2939 votes we are happy to announce the winner "Gijón Bus & Ride" with 1641 votes. The campaign is a street game to promote the intermodal use of bus system and shared bikes in Gijón. The race was very close as the second place is the "Fancy Women Bike Ride" in Turkey with 1150 votes.

Thanks to everyone who participated and helped make this contest a success - also special thanks to the Velo-city 2017 conference team for providing the prize!

1. Place: Gijón Bus & Ride with 1641 votes

Gijón Bus - Ride is a street game to promote the intermodal use of bus system and shared bike system in Gijón. GB&R Campaign promotes a change in habits in the field of personal mobility through gamification techniques, by encouraging the exploration of sustainable transport offer in Gijon and the rationalization of modal choices for urban mobility.

2. Place "Fancy Women Bike Ride" with 1150 votes

Fancy Women Bike Ride takes place in Izmir/Turkey for the fourth year in a row. Everything started with a simple call from Sema Gür, 43 years old high school teacher, inviting ladies to cycle in the city center with their fancy dresses and flower covered bicycles. The first event in 2013, took place on World Car Free Day in Izmir, there were more than 500 women. In 2014 there were more than 1000 and in 2015 2000 women on bikes joined the ride. This year, in 2016, there will be 20 000+ women in 28 cities cycling, asking for cycling-safe-cities during the European Mobility Week.

3. Place "Aveiro, city of business on bicycle"

Ciclaveiro is organizing the second edition of the shops front contest, this year under the theme 'Aveiro, city of business on bicycle', where shop owners are challenged to imagine and think of a city where all the displacements related to their business activities are done by using bicycles: costumers arrive on bicycle and transport their shopping on bicycle, distribution services are made on bicycle, transportation and delivery of goods are done using bicycles.

Biciklana Fest is a yearly cycling festival in Novi Sad. During the festival there will be a bike market, bike fashion review, photo exhibition and two workshops: about the urban concept of "design for all" and about psychology usage in achieving social change.

The second national campaign "bike to work" aims to encourage employers to their businesses, companies and organizations to become "bike-friendly", thus facilitating their employees coming to work by bike.

Zagreb' Cyclists' Union invites citizens to socialize in downtown Masarykova Street, which will be closed for traffic.

For the second year in a row, travelogue lectures about cycling and cycling tourism travels are held in the "House of sustainable mobility", or DOM of the Cyclists' Union, to convey knowledge and experience, and the benefits and beauty of this kind of movement over long distances through various countries, but also continents.

The project "Tricycle for elderly and disabled people" is to improve the quality of life of the mentioned demographic groups in relation to their mobility.

"Small school of safe cycling" is a safe cycling training for children teaching them traffic rules and signs, behavior in traffic and a small school of safe cycling.

Diario de Aveiro (regional newspaper) has during the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK a daily thematic page dedicated to sustainable mobility, with special attention to cycling and how cycling relates to and benefits diverse sectors of the economy and society.
