The European Cyclists’ Federation partners with 1% for the Planet
The European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) is a new nonprofit partner of 1% for the Planet, an alliance of more than 6,000 business and individual members that give back to support environmental nonprofits.
Jill Warren, CEO of ECF: “We’re delighted to join the 1% network, which will make it even easier for organisations and individual donors to support ECF’s crucial mission to achieve greener, more sustainable mobility through increased levels of cycling. This is more urgent than ever: there is no conceivable way we’ll achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the European Green Deal or climate-neutral cities without significantly more cycling.”
Newly approved, ECF is now eligible to receive donations from 1% for the Planet business and individual members, placing them among a diverse, global network of environmental organisations. 1% members fuel this nonprofit network through their annual contributions, and partnering with 1% greatly expands the potential pool of funding to which ECF can look for support.
ECF works for a healthier planet by promoting more and better cycling for all. Responsible for a quarter of Europe’s carbon emissions, the transport sector is one of the only sectors where emissions continue to grow. A major shift from private car travel to truly sustainable transport modes like cycling will be key to avoid catastrophic climate change.
ECF plays a key role in driving, influencing and facilitating this shift across Europe, bringing together all the stakeholders of the cycling world, working to change attitudes, policies and budget allocations in favour of more and better cycling, stimulating and organising the work of the cyclists’ movement and coordinating the exchange of knowledge on bicycle-related policies and strategies.
Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet: “We know our nonprofit partners play a critical role in solving the many challenges facing our planet, and our core work is to grow the support that enables these nonprofits to accomplish even more. We are thrilled to welcome ECF to the 1% for the Planet network.”
