The EU project 'MOVE' is promoting physical activity for disadvantaged groups. Cycling advocacy groups could potentially benefit from funding and recognition.

"We're calling on ECF members to tell their stories of work they have done promoting cycling to women, immigrants, seniors and children," says ECF Project Manager, Dr Randy Rzewnicki, "MOVE will evaluate the reports, and include the best in their collection. And then MOVE will choose the 15 best projects to receive funding."

"This is a great opportunity for ECF members to get attention for the work they are doing or have done in the past," adds Rzewnicki.

The MOVE project aims to identify, qualify and implement good practices in community initiatives to promote health-enhancing physical activity in socio-economically disadvantaged areas. Specific objectives include targeting socially disadvantaged groups in Europe.

What is in it for you?

Participating in the MOVE collection of good practices involves several important advantages for you:

  • Submitting your project experience(s) presents an opportunity for your work to be recognized as the one of 200 good practices in Europe. The collected project experiences will be evaluated by renowned universities against a pre-defined set of quality standards with a view to identifying good practices.
  • Project experiences qualifying as good practices will be published in a database on the MOVE website (www.wemoveyou.eu) and in a handbook. The MOVE website will feature the logo, a brief description and a link to the website of each of the organizations behind the good practices.
  • A number of the good practices will be featured in the MOVE2013 congress to be held in Barcelona in October 2013. All costs of travel and accommodation for the presenter will be paid for.
  • With your work featured in the MOVE database, your network will expand considerably. You will have easy access to a large group of organizations with experience and skills in the field of physical activity promotion in socially disadvantaged groups
