ECF's President Manfred Neun's most recent article has been published in New Europe's Our World in 2014, alongside leaders like Bill Gates and Kofi Annan. Neun's article reflects on building cities around people and urges more investments in sustainable and innovative policies.

Looking at the use of public space and transportation means, Neun understands livable cities as the cities of the future, the ones setting the pace. "The winners in the post-2014 economies and societies will be those that can look at the human dimension of cities and build them around people. In these human cities it is children’s play, walking, cycling and public space that get priority in policies and investments."

Whether is be economic benefits, health benefits, or environmental benefits, the numbers add up to lower costs and higher quality of living in cities that shift to being built and designed around people. A large part of that is accessible mobility, such as cycling or walking.
