ECF Associate Member CHC to promote International Bicycle Design Competition at Eurobike 2023
ECF Associate Member from Taiwan CHC will be at this year’s Eurobike conference to promote the International Bicycle Design Competition and their handcycle design.
The Cycling and Health Tech Industry R&D Centre (CHC), based in Taichung Taiwan, will be exhibiting at Eurobike, the renowned cycling conference taking place from the 21-25 June 2023 in Frankfurt. CHC will be promoting their International Bicycle Design Competition (IBDC), which launched on 1 June.
Running since 1996, the IBDC is the first bicycle concept design competition in the world. It aims to encourage innovation and creativity in bicycle design. In its nearly 30-year history, the competition has attracted 14,417 entries from 87 countries. The theme of this year’s competition is “Intelligence. Sustainability. Cool Lifestyle”. This theme responds to the growing importance of sustainability and intelligence as industry trends in recent years. With this competition, CHC hopes to foster intercultural exchange across countries to highlight some of the best innovations in cycling design.
The benefits of participation in the IBDC include international attention for your brand and design, publicity through the awards ceremony, cash prizes and certificates to acknowledge achievements – as well as a prime networking opportunity with bicycle manufacturers looking for new designs!
CHC’s handcycle brings the joy of cycling to more people
CHC is not only facilitating the exchange of bicycle design innovations, but they are also producing plenty themselves! Throughout the 2010s, they developed the handcycle, which enables those with physical disabilities to experience the joy and benefits of cycling. The new designs are also electric, allowing for smarter, safer, and more widely applicable with advanced functions.
Between 2011 and 2016, CHC organised handcycle riding events for all levels, which ranged from tens to thousands of kilometres in distance. Since people’s arms are not typically as strong as their legs, they also organised some intensive trainings before these tours. Due to the enthusiasm, perseverance and optimism of the groups, these trips managed to be a great success despite the physical challenges involved!
There are no shortage of exciting bicycle innovations coming from and being facilitated by our Taiwanese member and we cannot wait to see what the future will bring!
