ECF understands that growing the cycling modal share means investing in the brightest and best new innovations. New and developing technologies such as e-bikes and cargo bikes hold in store exciting potential for the promotion of a modal shift to sustainable urban logistics.

With the completion of the CycleLogistics project this year, ECF has once again demonstrated both its commitment to new technologies and its ability to attract EU funds for innovation. ECF has renewed its support for two new innovative projects which take off where their predecessor left off in promoting an urban logistics modal shift.

The Cyclelogistics Ahead project aims for zero emissions in urban logistics by 2030 while the Pro E-Bike project focusses on promotion of e-bikes for both commercial delivery and passenger transport. Pro E-Bike complements CycleLogistics by aiming to shift urban logistics away from conventionally fueled vehicles to more sustainable e-bikes.

This modal shift has been heavily endorsed by the German government who is currently spending 13 million on developing the market. In a recent statement they said, “The German government is of the opinion that there's a large, still unused potential for freight bicycles, also with electric support, especially in the logistics and service transport in municipalities.”

At Eurobike on the 29th August, ECF’s Kevin Mayne will be chairing a Cyclelogistics Ahead discussion on the potential for growth in this promising new sector. ECF is delighted to have the opportunity to discuss the sector’s opportunities with the biggest and best names in the cycling industry.

If you are passionate about the future of urban logistics, don’t miss this opportunity to share your ideas! See here for more information on this exciting event.
