During Velo-city 2018 we explored different aspects of cycling economy.

The second day of the conference featured one of the Scientists for Cycling sessions, which focused on studies around cycling economy. Researchers from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo in Brazil, as well as from Dresden, Germany presented their cities as case-studies in relation to cycling economy. Presentations were also focused on the link between energy efficiency and cycling, bamboo bicycles, classification of cyclists, commuting behaviour of a specific factory’s workers and the social impact of cycling.

During the third day, a session on Bikeconomics brought together contributions that took a global view on the economic benefits of cycling, with concrete examples and case studies.

Finally, experts from different financial institutions discussed how to “unlock big funds” and invest in cycling mobility.
