The program of Velo-city 2018 Rio de Janeiro included many sessions devoted to bike sharing.

Experts from all over the world explored the benefits of bike sharing systems on mobility and local economies, providing examples from different megacities. Activists and city officials thoroughly discussed the potential for social inclusion that lies within bike sharing systems. The Institute for Transport and Development Policy (ITDP) presented the updated Bikeshare Planning Guide, one of the most consulted documents when it comes to technically designing a bike sharing system. Last but not least, we debated how bike sharing can integrate and complement public transport, to create a real intermodal city.
