Urban population keeps growing larger and larger, and climatic issues are finally being addressed: a new kind of mobility is needed. We have to find a way to move and commute reducing traffic jams and accidents without polluting the environment. Luckily, multinational giants and start-ups decided to come together to find a solution.

Some are already talking of the 4th Industrial Revolution. This revolution is represented by an industry and technology convergence, leading to the emergence of, for example, clean energy vehicles and/or connected mobility solutions. “We call this urban mobility and we created Autonomy to present the amazing new mobility innovations being produced in a fittingly lifestyle environment” says Ross Douglas, Founder and CEO of the initiative, also a member of ECF’s Cycling Industry Club. Bringing together experts, professionals, innovators, common users and urban planners, Autonomy will give the opportunity to peek into the future of Mobility.

Ross is somewhat worried for the cycling sector, though: his opinion is driverless cars will have a huge impact on mobility as a whole and possibly on cycling in particular. They will be fuelled with renewable energy, always available, safe for car passengers and other road users: “Why cycle then?” The Autonomy event, 6-9 October in Paris, will try and answer to this and many other questions, and will look for the space where “e-bikes, autonomous cars, scooters, pedestrians and an array of micro-mobility system [will intermingle] in the seamless flow that should become urban mobility”.
