The Kidical Mass weekend in September 2021 was a huge success with 25,000 participants in more than 130 cities in Germany and beyond.
A big joint Kidical Mass 2022 will be held the weekend of 14/15 May 2022 and the weekend of 24/25 September 2022.
We want to invite cities in Germany, Europe and around the world to take part in Kidical Mass 2022, showing support for cycle-friendly and child-friendly cities.
The vision of Kidical Mass is that all children and young people can safely and independently travel by bicycle. Space for the next generation is the motto, using the premise that a child-friendly city is good for people of all ages. Kidical Mass gives kids a voice in the public realm, showing a positive future to work towards, connecting and mobilizing old and young, crossing boundaries in the cycling scene.
Over 200 local groups are at the heart of the alliance. This is a unique network of decentralized, self-organized, grassroots groups that are stronger together.
Starting in Cologne in 2018 and then with a network of 5 cities in 2019. In 2021 we are already over 130 cities and there are another hundred other cities and towns expressing their support.
We have an open-source platform with extensive information and materials on how to organise a Kidical Mass ride or other mobility actions
In addition, we implement school streets, play streets and mobility education and give the best practice examples into our network.
Our idea is: To make sustainable mobility a tangible experience, to inspire enthusiasm for it and thus achieve a change.
