Cycling is booming at many places in Europe. To support that trend everywhere across the continent, transport ministers endorsed in October 2015 the ‘Declaration on cycling as a climate friendly transport mode’ at the informal Council meeting on cycling in Luxembourg, hereby recommending the Commission to develop a ‘EU level strategic document on cycling’ and to install a ‘EU Cycling Focal Point”.
One month before that, the Parliament already had called for a ‘EU Roadmap to be included in the Commission Work Programme 2016’ in its report on the mid-term review of the 2011 Transport White Paper. Cycling Forum Europe, a platform of cycling-minded MEPs, invites to this breakfast meeting to discuss what progress has been made in getting an EU Cycling Strategy integrated into Commission policies.
