It's often said that cycling won't flourish in hot climates. In fact a few weeks ago, the European Automobile Manufacturer's Association (ACEA) went as far as saying that cycling was "not a pleasant or even a healthy activity" in countries with extreme temperatures. 

Israel on the other hand turns this cliché on its head. With temperatures sometimes soaring over 40 degrees in summer, the city is undergoing somewhat of a bicycle revolution. It’s seen the installation of a bicycle share scheme as well as the partial repealof a helmet law earlier this year. And the latest: bicycle traffic lights. They were installed in a new bicycle lane along the sea shore of Tel Aviv.

A very ecstatic Eran Shchori from the Israel Bicycle Association sent ECF an email with "fresh pictures from this morning" which contrast brilliantly with some of his older snaps.
