This spring and for two days, the center of Athens lived in the rhythm of cyclists. The Athens Bike Weekend was organized in the heart of the city, on Syntagma Square, and aimed at conditioning citizens to the use of bicycles and at accelerating the development of urban cycling in the city.

Athenians embraced this opportunity on both days. In total more than 15,000 people visited the event to check out the latest proposals of the cycling market or participate in the various cycling activities that were organized on the square. People had the opportunity to try bicycles of different types, including e-bikes. Kids were invited to take a ride and learn the basics about cycling.

Cyclists were able to check out their bikes in the service center and female cyclists also had their own corner where they could get valuable information and check out beautiful bikes.

All visitors enjoyed the flatland show provided by a professional cyclist on the spot, while a few participated in various games to win a prize.

The highlight of the weekend was the 23rd Cycling Tour of Athens on Sunday, attracting thousands of cyclists of all ages that changed for a little while the face of Athens – the city became more human, playful and enjoyable.

Athens Bike Weekend was organised by the cycling magazine MBike (www.mbike.gr) in collaboration with the Organisation of Culture, Sports and Youth of the City of Athens (www.opanda.gr) with the cooperation of CFC (citiesforcycling.gr) - member of the European Cyclists Federation.
