The report answering this question is now available online and printed!

This report, developed and produced by the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF), has collected the valuable experiences of many different stakeholders – cities, civil society, bicycle and delivery industry, and partners in EU-projects. It provides innovative and thought-provoking recommendations based on first-hand experiences that cities and municipalities have with Cyclelogistics solutions currently in place in many EU Member States.

ECF has worked closely with its members and trusted partners for many years seeking Cyclelogistics solutions. In that time a growing number of European cities have demonstrated the effectiveness and benefits to citizens and businesses of making the shift from traditional motorized logistics to Cyclelogistics.

The content of this report is a compilation of the ECF works and the outcomes of the Cyclelogistics Roundtable ECF organized mid-November 2015.

The new recommendations this report provides are aimed to be included in the upcoming EU guidelines on Urban Logistics, a process the European Commission started at the end of 2015.

Additionally to this perspective, the ECF will continue to work with its members and networks, especially ECF Cities for Cyclists and the Cycling Industry Club, on promoting the implementation of the recommendations from this report, which will help mainstreaming their uptake.

“We expect to see goods delivered by cycle far beyond the cities where bikes are already part of the logistics system, in cities and municipalities all across the European Union.” Dr Bernhard Ensink, Secretary General of the ECF says.
