AGM Stockholm 2016: ECF welcomes three new members associations to its family
28/05/2016 Stockholm, Sweden. On the 2016 Annual General Meeting in the Swedish capital, the European Cyclists Federation Board was pleased to welcome three brand new full members associations in its big European family.
The first new member is “Center for Environment” is a non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-partisan organization from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Founded in 1999, it can count on 60 activists and professionals dedicated to protection of environment, advocating principles of sustainable development and larger public participation in decision-making on environment. As an organisation who is dealing with urban mobility and urban cycling since 2002, Centar za životnu sredinu (CZZS) aims to improve cycling in Bosnia and Herzegovina even more. The ECF is looking forward to help CZZS members and its president Nataša Crnković to achieve this goal.
The second one is “Cycling Escape of Pieria” (Podilatiki Apo-Drasi Pierias in its original language) was founded in 2010 and comes from the city of Katerini in the north of Greece. The president, Dimitra Gkolia, can count on more than 100 active members, whose aim is to promote bicycle as an urban mobility mean and to cultivate driving education and cycling mentality, especially among students. Thus, the club holds a section of cycling education making visits to primary and secondary schools and participates in the Annual pan- Hellenic cycling route- manifestation, hosted simultaneously in various cities of Greece.
Last but not least, the ECF gladly welcomes the “Municipal Association of Bicycle Tourism Circle Relaxation”, a new Polish member. The association (in polish Miejskie koło turystyki rowerowej "Relaks" stowarzyszenie pozytku publicznego) is based in the city of Lubartów – in the east of the country – and is a non-profit organization whose president Tadeusz Matwiejczyk can count on 30 active members. Their main focus is to document, support and promote the achievements of cycling enthusiasts in the province of Lublin. The club is also really active in engaging cycling culture locally by organizing bicycle tours and related activities with the surrounding provinces.
The ECF is looking forward to start cooperating with these three new members that will join a family composed by more than 80 cycling organizations from more than 40 countries around the world, in order to better promote cycling culture in every aspects of our life.
