- Since February 2014, Klaus has been the director of Danish Cyclists’ Federation, working to engender greater traffic safety, accessibility, comfort, and richness of experience for people riding bicycles in their everyday life and leisure time.He works to get more people on bicycles for the benefit of public health, nature and the environment.
- From 2006-2010 he was a Mayor of the City of Copenhagen: firstly as Mayor for the Technical and Environmental administration and member of the Financial Committee until 2009, and then Mayor for the Employment and Integrations administration and member of the Financial Committee
- In working to insure that the bicycle is considered an equal means of transportation and creating greater intermodality, he hopes at last to secure that all destinations can be reached by bicycle – without detours.
