Organization ConBici is a non-government association of 32 cycling groups in Spain and Portugal. It practices, defends and promotes the use of bicycle as a mode of transport and recreation. ConBici is Member of the Superior Board of Traffic and Road Safety in Spain. It defends the European model of cycle tourism because of the high benefit for the welfare, the local economy and environment. Within ConBici there are several working groups about different subjects such as public transport, legislation, infraestructures, etc.
Short Summary ConBici works for creating a traffic legislation to protect the right of everybody to circulate, including pedestrians and cyclists. ConBici creates and spreads national and international information about favorable politics for the use of bicycle and sustainability, claims the right and suitability of combining the use of bicycle with public transport.
Example activities
Every two years since 1996, ConBici organizes the Iberian Congress "Bicycle and City" alternating Spain and Portugal. Every year ConBici grants the Prize to the Sustainable Mobility in Spain in acknowledgement of promotion of the same. Every two years since 1985, also organizes Cycle touring and urban Meetings in any region of Spain or Portugal.
